WH166 is now owned by Graham Revill (Revill Collection). The Meteor T.7 can be found at Bakers Hill Farm, Birlingham, Pershore, Worcestershire. I used to be stationed at Digby and one of the wind-ups was trying to convince a recent join-up that they had to sit in it wearing a flying helmet during AOC’s visits.

As I mentioned I’ve never been to Digby but I know a retired Air Vice-Marshal who was there this summer and he mentioned it was superb and well worth visiting. I’ve no particular axe to grind, but it does seem to be somewhere deserving of our support.

In London we have “Open House” the same weekend. I’ve been to Bently Priory and the ops room at RAF Uxbridge in previous years but neither are open this year. Still waiting to hear if I managed to get a ticket to RAF Northolt this year.

I must admit I’ve never been to the Ops Room Museum at RAF Digby, but have seen photos of it and it looks a very good recreation. I really must get down there sometime!

Anyway, I have a small flyer for it (from the 2000 season) which notes that it’s open every Sunday from 7 May – 24 September at 11 am. Group visits are by prior arrangement. Admission is free, though donations would be most welcome.

There is no need to book, just arrive at the Sports Ground car park on the B1191 between the A15 and Scopwick, south of Lincoln. Visitors will be met by a guide and the tour will depart promptly so please arrive in good time.

Bearing in mind that the flyer is a little out of date, it’s probably worth contacting the Visitor Co-ordinator on 01526 327657 between 8am and 5pm Mon-Fri.

Hope this helps.
