Shameless plug coming up…. (but hoping that our hosts don’t mind….)
Just thought I’d let you all know about a ‘1940’s’ event happening next weekend (30th and 31st)(yes, I know it clashes with Gransden).
The weekend has been organised by a local charity (Ramsey Rural Museum) and all profits go to them. There will be 1940’s Military vehicles and BBMF flypast is expected – (any other aircraft in the area would most welcome to make an appearance…. perhaps Janie might loose her bearings on the way to Duxford, or Gransden…. 😉 😀 )
We( http://www.grandvenue.co.uk) are running newsreels courtesey of IWM Archives (Saturday and Sunday) [we are running: RMY 92-6, MGH 246, WPN 6, COI 129.( http://www.iwmcollections.org.uk/qryFilm.asp just search in the ‘film number’ for more info) admission is £1-50 unless you are ticket holder for the evenings 1940’s dress dance/brass band (Saturday).
Sunday at 5pm ‘Appointment in London’ starring: Dirk Bogarde, Dinah Sheridan, Ian Hunter and Bill Kerr. It was filmed locally at RAF Upwood (Cambridgeshire, UK) the surrounding area and well worth watching. http://uk.imdb.com/Title?0045513 Admission is £3. See also: http://www.upwood-base.co.uk
There is a possibility of running other films such as BoB, DBW and Memphis Belle in the future, if there is sufficient interest in a Cinema presentation…

Inexcess of 10,000 people visited for the weekend.
There should be another same time next year.

Hey Ashley:D:D I was hoping to pick them up from Duxford, but now have to be in London tomorrow anyhow…. Just please tell me that you haven’t polished the film instead of the Spitfires! ;):D:p
If you do manage to get over then you’ll find me on ‘projection duty’, come into the Bar (downstairs) and ask.
Anyone else, message me through this site.
Looking like a really good weekend.

Hey Bigglesworth…those film numbers look familiar to me 😀 😀 😀 …particularly seeing as I have just sent them down to London in the last hour 😉
Hope all goes well, will try and juggle weekend plans to make it.
