Avro Canada CF-100 Base Borden Military Museum Restoration Update

Here are a few pictures taken at the CFB Borden Military Museum. Under restoration is Avro Canada CF-100 Mk.4A serial # 18194 for static display. It was SOS in Feb 1964 was then used a training aid.

A small group of very dedicated volunteers work on the aircraft every Wednesday in one of the shops on the base. Plans are underway to house three aircraft in the museum shop.(a T-bird and I believe a Tutor) The CF100 Mk4A is possibly the only remaining example in Canada and it is nice to see it’s future prolonged by giving it a roof over it’s head. It has been painted in the 428 Ghost sqn colours in which it flew with. The cockpit is the focus of the groups attention at the present.

A Harvard is also under restoration in the shop by another group.

CFB Borden is a training base so many airframes are often seen on the base. The T-birds are part of battle repairs group. Still it is nice to see a few T-birds in silver colours!!

I’m afraid not Peter..they have put engines in this old girl( and apparantly they still hours remaining on them) but not static starts for this one.. I am just glad that they will save another one from the elements. so many 100’s(Canucks) have been outdoors for so long!!:(

Too bad no CF100 are found on the vintage airshow circuit in the States!!
