If they had managed to keep the sand out (and that’s a big IF) it would not have taken much work to get this one serviceable again as I notice that the wings were actually unbolted at the spar attachment points. Devious lot aren’t they?

D’ya know, that’s a very, VERY, good point!!

with iraq going to such lengths to hide a aircraft you realise how easy it would be to hide a few 45 gallon drums of wmd material
after all there is alot of sand out there

I have some more photos of that series that I can post later if required. However I cannot release the source of these as I live not a spit from where Dr Kelly met his demise and I would not like to be joining him, you never know who’s who anymore.

Why bury a plane that is obviously no longer operational, they don’t even have wings! Could it be that they where caught up in a sand storm or something, I can’t believe the amount of time that must have gone into covering up these planes. Surely the Iraqi’s would have had more important things to do?

OR,
as it’s already full of sand, it would probably make a good childs sandpit:D

It would be rally handy for the IWM as it looks as though somebody has already saved them the bother of hacking the wings off.

Interesting photo’s Philo. Where are you finding them and do you have any more details of the Mig’s location. Has anybody ideas as to why the Iraqi’s would bury a dismantled jet like this?

Going to the beach for your holiday is very popular.

Not there they won’t, and certainly not with all that sand about.

I think the Iraqi airforce may have a serious FOD issue that they need to resolve!
