Newark Air Museum Swift WK277

I think the Swift WK277 at Newark Air Museum has been given abit of a cleanup recently. The paint looks new and the airframe is
supported on jacks. Wheels removed. Anyone have any news on this rare one? Hope to see it undercover soon?

My Swift F7 was and will be silver ‘down below’…..I am not sure if the Swift will go inside or not…we would have to ask the Museum!!

I believe it is privately owned (Dizzy Addicot?!)…as such, I suspect the priority for going undercover would be museum airframes. Having said that, would like to see it in the warm

regards

Tony

This was a common scheme on RAF aircraft of that era. Vampires and Sabres also carried the same scheme. It may possibly have been for aircraft based in Germany?????
The underside colour is the same PR blue as carried by PR Spitfires during WW2.

I think!

It did cross my mind at the time, but I’m afraid I didn’t think to ask anyone. Maybe Joe will know?

That’s an unusual underside colour – I would have expected High Speed Silver or Light Aircraft Grey. Is there a special reason for that blue on this aircraft?

Didn’t get that close to her I’m afraid, but did get this shot. Slightly different angle to Joe’s.

Here’s a recent picture of her. I have not been over to Newark for a while, but as I said on another thread if she’s not going in to the new hangar I assume that she will go in to the current display hall when some of the other aircraft are moved across.

She certainly looked a lot tidier on Saturday than she did last year, which is great to see. I took a couple of pictures, but they’re on the home pc so I’m afraid you’ll have to wait until later for those…
