BAC 1-11 three aircraft flypast today

To mark the projected retirement of one of our BAC 1-11’s a formation flypast of our three aircraft took place today. It was a rather sedate affair but was nice to see all the same.

Sorry, no pics. Not allowed to take camera’s into work. There was a chase plane taking official camera’s but when developed these will probably become copyright.

Just thought I’d let you all know that the end of the BAC 1-11 flying out of Bournemouth wasn’t the end of all BAC 1-11’s flying in this country.;)

looks similar to the royal flight colour – red tail with the red and blue stripe down the fuselarge but bearing the nose cone of the Typhoon, looks very odd!:)

What colour scheme does it wear? I thought ours were the only four left still flying in the UK (including the one at edinbrough).

It might be ours on detachment to Warton.

BAE Systems still has 1-11 flying from Warton, I think is a 200 series(without hushkits)as a radar testbed – very loud, but quiet in comparason with the Tornados and Typhoons flying in and out.

Most Danair 1-11 pilots had a sticker on their flight bags saying ‘Loud but proud’!

I agree , if you give the photographer the credit it should be ok , if not we’ll get the webmaster to pull it .

Well I have worked on various aircraft and have to say that the BAC 1-11 is one of the most impressive. A lot of thought has gone into it’s systems and it sure beats the hell out of any Boeing I’ve worked on!:)

anything that makes a lot of noise i would – i’d probably plan a day around seeing those noisy B732s if they didn’t fly into leeds!

It was the moped of the airliner world!

Quite small but produced a strangely massive amount of ear splitting noise. It isn’t a type I would drool over.

I was thinking more from the point of view that it is a copyrighted picture. There is a ticky label on the back that reads:

It is a shame to see the end of it regularly flying, it was a good little plane.

😀 That’s no fault of the aeroplane, that’s the fault of the operator!:)

The BAC 1-11 is almost as nice as my old Comet.:)
