hi, i found this pic of the HA-1112-M1L 172 “G-BWUE
C.4K-102″. This pic looks like the me109 version of the aircraft wit the daimler benz engine? but i heard that the real aeroplane company are restoring it with a merlin engine? does any1 know what is happening with this aircraft? what is happenin with the other buchon being restored in the Uk (C.4K-162).
does any1 know if Bf 109E-3 1342 is flying yet?
my dream for duxford this year would be a dogfight with a me109 or fw190 with a spitfire!
does any1 else know how many me109s are being restored in the UK? i dont know why the fighter collection doesnt have 1?
Thanks
Graeme

David / dhfan, thanks for those. This might sound a bit odd, but I’ve always thought the unpainted 109 is a very pretty looking little aeroplane, especially when perched on her spindly undercarriage legs. But when you add the warpaint all of a sudden she becomes a very sinister and purposeful looking beast. Anyway, looks like she’s coming along very nicely, and I’ll certainly look forward to seeing her on the circuit in due course. 😀

“We’re much more focussed on getting the Mew Gull ready for Reno at the moment!”
Will the Mew be competitively flown or as a historic display aircraft? Not sure I’m too keen on the idea of it zapping round the pylons at nought feet,it’s been rebuilt twice already ya know! 😉

Better angle than mine, but mine are bigger so here they are anyway!

Try this one, taken last month http://www.realaero.com/mayshow/buchmay.jpg
as far as I know, the proposed colour scheme is still under wraps – it will almost certainly be masquerading as a Luftwaffe ‘109 though. Flight testing still a way off, details will appear on our website as soon as we know.
I guess that all aeroplanes have a selling price, the Hurricane is no exception, but we hope that she’ll still be here to form a warbird duo with a difference – as always though, the owner calls the shots.
We’re much more focussed on getting the Mew Gull ready for Reno at the moment!
Hope all that’s useful.

I took a couple from the doorway of the hangar when I was there two or three weeks ago.
They were digital pics and they’re now on the laptop. Can’t remember how good they are. I’ll have a look tomorrow and if they’re OK I’ll post them.

No, it’s not. Mark was lost in G-BOML, not sure whether any parts of that aircraft still survive.
David, I’ve been looking at the Realaero site, but couldn’t find anything about the restoration. Do you have any recent photos which you could post on here?

It says on the Real Aero site that the Buchon was owned by OFMC,
Is it the one than Mark Hanna was lost in – if it is ,I think I’d rather it was in Florida!

yay, thanks David, that is great news! when is her first flight expected? what colour scheme have you got in mind? have you got plans in the future to re-engine her with a DB?
cheers, the site of a Buchon makes me 🙂

Interesting site David, thanks for the link. 🙂 Do you happen to know what the position is with the Hurricane? Is she still up for sale?

Visually, our Buchon looks pretty complete, except for the wings and engine cowlings. The excellent news for UK warbird fans is that we now plan to operate her from Breighton Aerodrome (as opposed to Florida). Check out the progress of the restoration via our website (http://www.realaero.com).
All the best,
David Butler

Although it looks realistic, the nose on the Buchon in the piccy is a wooden mock up to make it look like a D-B powered example. The aircraft has never actaully been fitted with a D-B engine. The RAeC are restoring it to airworthiness with a Merlin.

www.preservedaxisaircraft.com, not axis fighters, whats wrong with me today lol.

yeah the pic is from Preservedaxis fighters.com. This pic has puzzled me, im not sure if the Real Aeroplane company are going to use that kind of nose and use a merlin engine? or a Daimler?

yeah, i know it would be painful, i would love to see a Me109, espically in Black 6 desert colours(that colour scheme). i love the p38 also, but me109 would be a more relistic at the moe. But how many are there being restored in europe, i know flugwerk and craig charleston have a hand full? but back to me109s, is the RAC being restored to a ME109 or buchon standard?

I wouldn’t have thought a flying 109 , Buchon or otherwise would be a wise choice at Duxford for some time, might just be too painful to bear.
Same reason no P38
