These are from my father in law. He is standing in front of the P47.
He was not a pilot… but later went into comm and avionics maint.
I cannot quite make out the aircraft name on the cowling, so have to get out my magnifying glass tonite…
“something PUNCH” .

I seem to remember that a Ki61 fuselage/cockpit section was recovered from PNG 4 or 5 years back. This was about the same time as the P38F was recovered for the Classic Jets Fighter Museum at Parafield,South Australia, although I seem to remember that the Ki61 bits and pieces were passed on to an owner/museum in the US.

I wonder..
In that area have they ever found wrecks of any Ki-61 Hien? They were IIRC first encountered by the Allies over New Guinea.

It may well be an A20, thanks Ant!
I have no other info on the planes in the pictures… sorry.
Thanks for the feedback…

Excellent pics ChinaClipper, thanks for sharing them with us! 🙂 Incidentally,I think The Green Hornet is a Douglas A20 Havoc rather than a Marauder.

Excellent mate. Really good shots – and once again, different to the normal-in-every-book shots. Thanks.

New Guinea B26
B 26 from 1944 in New Guinea
The Green Hornet… look at all those mission marks!
I will try to read the pilot’s name with my magnifying glass tonite and post the name later.
