Next week there is a guy from the Doolittle Raiders, named Thomas Griffin, that is coming to visit with my AFROTC detachment where I attend college. He was a 2nd Lt. at the time of the raid I believe. Here is his biographical information:
Born in Green Bay, WI in 1916. Graduated from University of Alabama with BA degree in 1939. Entered Army (Coast Artillery) in 1939 and transferred to Air Corps in 1940. Graduated from Navigator School in 1940. Navigator on Plane #9. After raid was transferred to North Africa. Shot down and captured by the Germans in 1943 and was prisoner-of-war until the end of the war. Retired in 1980 from own accounting business. lives in Cincinnati, OH. with his wife Esther.
Anyway, I thought I’d let you guys know that he was coming because we’ll have a chance to ask him questions and I was going to say if any of you have any questions you’d like to know the answers to I can gladly write them down and ask him when I get the chance. I eagerly await getting to meet him and talk with him as I consider him one of the true heroes of my nation.
So, if any of you have any questions on anything about the Doolittle Raid that you’d like to know, I will be glad to ask him for you.

don’t worry too much about asking questions, just try and encourage him to talk of his experiences, sit back and soak up whatever he talks to you about. The best conversations are always spontaneous.

I was hoping some others had some questions as I myself will probably have trouble coming up with good things to ask him.
Maybe when the time comes I will be able to think of some.

If you don’t mind, ask him how the galsses and the bottle of brandy idea came about, and how many glasses are still unturned?
Other than that I would say to you enjoy the experience of meeting him for it is both a privelege and an honour.
