How many of you knew about this one? The world’s last General Aircraft ST-25 Monospar Ambulance registered OY-DAZ (ex G-AEYF) photographed in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December 1987 just after completion of its restoration. It is now on display at Egeskov Castle on the island of Funen (“Fyn”) in Denmark.

RE: The Worlds Last ST-25 Monospar…
Didn’t Newark Monospar suffer fire damage, or am I thinking of one somewhere else?
Anyway, I believe it’s now under restoration off site but I can’t remember who with.

Re Newark
There’s certainly a substantial lump of Monospar at Newark, but I can’t remember what part. Came as news to me because I didn’t know there were any left at all. Could it be just the fuselage?
Called in at Newark after the Kit Car show in June, (real anorak me, kit car, soon to be two, steam engines, aeroplanes…), it was the weekend of the Cockpitfest and was just closing so it was a real flying visit.
I don’t know why I don’t go more often, its only about 45 minutes away.

RE: The Worlds Last ST-25 Monospar…
You wouldnt think there would be documents left. Surely enthusiasts would have taken them?
I went from top to bottom in the Graham White hangar at Hendon, to make sure the builders didnt sling any, (just before it was moved). The building was totally cleared, bar a derelict lorry behind the hangar. Some idiot had left their anaorak behind 😉
Out of interest, what was the Graham White hangar used for up till 1987 when Hendon shut?

Glad you liked it; v-e-r-y sorry to hear about the fate of the GAL archives. I followed most of OY-DAZ’s restoration which was carried out single-handedly by a former workshop manager of Skandinavisk Aero Industri (those with the KZ-series aircraft) and it was absolutely meticulous inside and out. Even the Pobjoy Niagara engines were taken completely apart and restored with new gaskets etc. before being carefully conserved. Incidentally, there should be another Monospar in Great Britain as well, an ST-12 with the Newark Aircraft Museum. A second, airworthy ST-25 perished in a hangar fire in New Zealand in the Eighties.

RE: The Worlds Last ST-25 Monospar…
Thanks for that Kenneth! To be honest I never realised there was a Monospar still in existance. They were built by General Aircraft Ltd just down the road from me at what was Hanworth Air Park.Sadly, the old GAL hangar was knocked down a few years ago to make way for a multiplex cinema-boooo hisssss. To add insult to injury, the builders found a load of paperwork in the hangar while they were demolishing it,and unfortunately it was set alight in a skip before anyone realised it’s value. The paperwork was thought to include blueprints for the GAL Cygnet and Owlet, which had been missing for years.Only two Cygnets survive, one at East Fortune and the other in a very poor state on an outdoor plinth in Argentina. So far as I know, this Monospar is only the third GAL aircraft anywhere in the world today (excluding bits and pieces of Horsa and Hamilcar assault gliders).
Looks like she’s kept in excellent condition, thanks again for the picture Kenneth.
