The final flight ever of a Wessex in RAF service happened today at RAF Akrotiri. 84 Sqdn who have been flying the Wessex laid on a small dsiplay to mark the occassion.
I took these this afternoon.
The first three pics show the last four Wessex on operational strength with 84
The next four pics are close ups
The next 3 show the last ever actual flight on operational strength of a Wessex
And the last three pics are the actual last ever ASR (okay, it was on dry land)by a Wessex .
Sad. the old girl’s done well for the past forty years. She will be missed.
Enjoy
Cheers

RE: Wessex Farewell
I’ll do better than that. I’ve got another twenty odd that I took today and as I didnt want to swamp the forum I only posted a few. drop me your e-mail and I’ll send over a few at a time.
Trust me…they look a lot better than the file size we can load allows.
What is your connection …isdn…broadband…telephone ?. I need to know so I dont swamp your set, and can send accordingly.
I alos managed to get a signed squadron print of an 84 Sqdn Wessex and a cracking new painting of of them fire fighting with the rain-maker bucket underneath…seen em use that loads out here !!
cheers

RE: Wessex Farewell
Hey, Geedee, thank you so much for posting these. As a 3000 hr Wessex crewman these pictures mean alot to me. Is it ok if I download them for my personal use?
