Has anyone heard of how they are manging with the restoration of George? Last I heard and saw in pics was that she was dismantled into her sub sections for restoration in a large hanger..?
No info on the website but I would love to know how things are progressing including some pics

I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to actually answer the original question – How is G/George progressing?
The last I heard, George was back on partial display, with the cockpit and forward fuselage available for viewing, whilst the remainder of the aircraft is receiving on-going overhaul behind drapes.
I haven’t actually seen her, members can rest assured that this aircraft, of considerable historical significance to Australia’s war effort, is in the best of hands and will eventually emerge looking as good as possible.

Indeed!
Throttles set
Booster coil master switch-ON
No.3 master #####-ON
No.3 igniton switch-ON
No.3 starter button-pressed…
…No.3 firing, fire warning light out, oil pressure rising, close bomb doors…
Ooh, I’ve started to quiver!

Would that be ‘Rad shutters Auto’?

RE: Lancaster G George
There’s no need to be so snappy-I was merely saying that among die-hard Lanc enthusiasts, ‘George’ was information enough.
Check your radiator temperatures, you need to chill out a bit!

I think the answers is that if you don’t know what the question is, don’t try to answer it.
I’m not a fan of the Lanc above any other type (no less either mind), but having built the old Airfix kit, I did recognise the markings as being the one in an Australian museum. I appreciate that not everyone is a modeller though.

To Lancman (and others)
We are not all obsessed, single type junkies. I would imagine that most of the forum do not have a vast library to hand and therefore do not know the whereabouts of each and every warbird simply by reference to a single code letter.

And, if I,m right here, the one I built and smashed up several times as a kid many years ago from the Airfix 1/72nd kit. I bet most of us have owned that one- a natural companion to the DogFight Double Spitfire and 110!

RE: Lancaster G George
Well, given the relatively few Lancasters that we have left in the world, any Lanc enthusiast even vaguely worth his salt should know straight away which Lanc is meant by ‘George’, just like Hendon’s ‘Sugar’. Anyway, ‘George’ is W4783, and he lives in Australia, where he’s been since the end of his war. He’s a high-scoring, ex-operational Lanc, from 460 sqdn.

This is beginning become a regular request. Which aircraft are you referring too? Please don’t start a new thread without full details or at least an indication of who, what or where you are talking about.
>The Lanc looks great, but please remember when starting a new thread >to tell us which aircraft and it’s location. I’m guessing its one >of the Canadian Lancs, but where, and is it accessible for visits.

Yes, I’d like to know, too-all I know, as Peter has said, is that she was dismantled and removed from her display space, for restoration. Anyone know anything?
