IWM 190 refurbishment

Sometime in the late eighties [ or maybe early nineties ], this company , based at Duxford , refurbished the Imperial War Museums’ 190A-8 733682.
What I am looking for are some photos of it outside after completion and before return to Lambeth … anyone get some or know someone who did ?
If I am unsuccessful in my search I will contact ARCO directly , but don’t want to bother them at this stage….
Failing that , anyone have any from the time it was displayed outside at Biggin Hill open days in the sixties ;-0 ?

[p.s. I have plenty of shots of it as now displayed ]

TIA
Dave

RE: IWM 190 refurbishment

Thanks for your help guys , it is appreciated. There is a very nice shot of her in ‘Vintage and Veteran Aircraft’ by Les Hunt … I assume that was taken during her time at Biggin Hill , since the book is of 1970s origin. [ Anyone know if Les is still around ? ]
Regarding the Hs129 , I visited the owner on a trip to Sydney in 1999 , he had it in his garage and was in the process of restoring the armoured seat and instruments . The full size aircraft must have been damn impressive as the cockpit / nose section sure is !! . Quite a few ‘spang ‘ marks where bullets had bounced off the thick armour

regards
Dave

RE: IWM 190 refurbishment

Thanx Ant….I recently saw a mag say that the Fw190 was done by TFC….but logically I don’t think they had any deals with IWM back then so bow my head in shame!

Anyone notice the Henschel HS129 cockpit section in this months Flypast (in a view of the Oz museum).?

regards… best get to bed…long day tommorrow!!

RE: IWM 190 refurbishment

The work was carried out by ARCO in what is now the TFC hanger, at the time TFC hadn’t taken over the hanger fully hence there were still some IWM aircraft living in there.

Hi Tony,
It was Arco who did the work, but confusingly I seem to remember seeing pics of the 190 in the TFC hangar while it was awaiting respray.Arco also did the conservation and respray on the He162 which is also at Lambeth.

RE: IWM 190 refurbishment

I have shots of it before refurb at Duxford and after at IWM Lambeth but alas none outside just after restoration. Was it ARCO or TFC who did the refurb?
