Navigator training in WWII

I am researching the career of Sgt Alexander McGee Cormack, a navigator/bomb aimer with 61 Sqdn who was lost on the night of 24/25 September 1942 on behalf of his widow. His logbook at the moment is missing but I have been given his diary to look through covering June to August of 1942. In the front of the diary is a partial calendar for 1941. it shows he was in Miami for October, November and the first few days of December before crossing the Atlantic. He then spent a month in Bournemouth followed by a four month period at Jurby. 3 weeks of June were spent at Kinloss followed by 3 weeks at Forres. After 9 days leave he was posted to 61 Sqdn at Syerston on 6th August.

Now to the questions. Firstly, would he have been training to be a Navigator in Miami? Could he have been an unsuccessful pilot candidate? And what unit would he have been with in Miami?

Secondly, which units would he heve been likely to be with at Jurby and Kinloss?

Finally, what would he have been doing at Forres?

I know it’s a lot to ask but any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
