[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-09-02 AT 03:19 PM (GMT)]I just tried to use Mr Richardson’s name as the subject line of this reply. It won’t let me! ROTFL 🙂 🙂 🙂
It’s short for ‘Richard’.

RE: KB976 and Sandtoft
##### Richardson is still the Popham man. His Walrus was up for sale a few months back, and the answer to a similar question posed at the time was that it was “very well advanced.”

RE: KB976 and Sandtoft
It was actually Charles Church who owned her at the time of the hangar collapse , following the tragic loss of Mr Church in a Spitfire crash (MK606 ??? anybody else know) his collection , including the Lanc was sold off . When Sir William Roberts sold the Lanc to Charles Church the fellow who ran the Strathallan Collection , ##### Richardson , went with it , after he left the collection went downhill pretty quickly ,
Doe’s anybody know if Mr Richardson is still based at Popham Airfield and how far along is his Walrus restoration ???

RE: KB976 and Sandtoft
KB976 is now owned by Kermit Weeks, and is reportedly being stored in a bunch of containers out the back of his hangar in Florida, along with pieces from KB994. Apparently he does intend to rebuild her to fly.
There is currently an Avro Lincoln in pieces at Sandtoft (RF342?), whose future is unclear.
As for KB976 being potentially airworthy a few years ago, I believe the late Doug Arnold had planned to restore her to airworthiness, and that this was under way when the hangar roof collapsed on her at Woodford. Not really a great deal anyone can do about that kind of accident.

RE: For lancman
Lancman, I’ve just found the photos of KB976 lying at Sandtoft , I saw this Lanc many times at Strathallan when she was owned by Sir William Roberts ( I think it was you who sent me the photo of here when she was rolled out of the hangar for ground runs) , do you know who owns her now ??? and what is planned for her ???? , its sad to think that barely 12 years ago she was potentially airworthy and now she lies mouldering in a heap at Sandtoft , its a shame the Panton brothers don’t have a bigger hangar .
Maybe she should have been left in Canada , they seem to take better care of their aviation heritage than we do – on the other hand Sir William Roberts did save a lot of aircraft , many of which are airworthy at present.
