The Saturday is a fly-in with ground attractions. The Sunday holds the air display itself, with a limited fly-in of up to 20 aircraft.
The air display starts at 13:00, with a line-up to include two Spitfires, the Blenheim, Avenger, two Stearman teams, Piper Cub, Lancaster flypast, Goldair Pitts Special, WW1 duo and Yak 52.
Rougham is located two miles east of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

Glad you enjoyed yourself, Steve 🙂
Here’s a couple of pics, one of the Lanc and one of Charlie Brown’s Spitfire, illustrating just how wet it was!

Thoroughly enjoyed it thanks Jo, despite mother nature’s best efforts. 🙂
Sterling efforts by Tony Haig-Thomas and Nick (?) Wilson to get their Avenger and Yak displays done before the thunderstorms closed in, and then a superb display by Charlie Brown in Spitfire BM597 to get the ball rolling again an hour or so later. Other highlights for us were Carolyn Grace’s Spitfire display and of course Haydn’s beloved Lancaster.
Coupled with the informal friendly atmosphere of the place, and of course the angled crowd line allowing pilots to display the topsides of their aircraft, I was very impressed. Please do pass on my thanks and compliments to the organisers. It was our first visit to Rougham – it won’t be the last. 🙂

Well, I hope you enjoyed yourselves, if you did indeed make it to Rougham. I can only apologise for the appalling weather on Sunday!! Still, at least we did get all the aircraft in the air after the thunderstorms had passed over, and they displayed very well. The only exception was the Blenheim, which was stuck in France after a mechanical failure – a broken piston ring, I believe.
We were all impressed with the Lancaster – after booking it for ‘a flypast’, she gave us several circuits of the airfield with at least four great passes, before continuing on her way.
We’ll book some sun next year; promise! 😉

RE: Gratuitous Plug – Rougham Airshow this weekend
Well that’s solved the problem of how to keep Haydn amused on Sunday – he’s with his grandparents for the week just up the road from Bury, and so calling in at Rougham after I collect him on Sunday will do the trick nicely! 😉
