News has surfaced on another forum that the former HAC Spitfire IX TE566 G-BLCK has crashed in South Africa, tragically killing the pilot.

I think we’ve got to put it all into context; it doesn’t matter where (globally) an accident happens, it’s a tragic event wherever it is. I’m sure that everyone involved with this aircraft and her pilot will have some solemn thoughts today.

my thoughts indeed. When I was reading a list of the Spits HFL have done over the years, I notice all the ones that are no longer with us are export ones – chilling would you say?
