Jubilee Airshow, Duxford May 5th 2002

Hey all 🙂

So who is coming to the airshow a week on Sunday then?

It looks like it will be another good show…and for those of you who are interested in the participants, the most up to date info I have is the following extract taken from the offical IWM website for Duxford:

In Her Majesty’s Jubilee year Duxford will be featuring Royal flying as one of its strong themes with aircraft that the Royal Family have flown and flown in over the years, from the First World War to the present day, including a De Havilland Devon originally flown by HRH Prince Philip. We will also celebrate the heritage of Bomber Command on its 60th Anniversary, with the inclusion of classics such as the Lancaster and Blenheim, following the theme through to its Strike Command successors of today with a Tornado GR4 and Harrier.

Another strong theme will be the 20th Anniversary of the Falklands War, Duxford being the only major air show to commemorate this anniversary, and will include helicopters such as the Chinook and Puma. The Show will also feature the RAF Falcons Parachute Display team and the first ever public display by the Merlin helicopter.

Hope to see some of you there on the day (I’ll be the one in a Duxford polo shirt and Spitfire earrings in the Flypast enclosure 😉 )

Dunno mate – my now ex-other half has always had a habit of picking unusual names, with the added criteria that they must end with an ‘N’. Her daughters are called Lee-Ann, Robyn and Taryn.

Tracey was always adamant that number four was going to be called Haydn regardless of its gender, and when she gets adamant about something, believe me you don’t argue! Besides, I like the name too… 🙂

Haydn, what an ace name to call a kid! What inspired it?

Dont get me wrong, i dont deprive my daughters of aircraft i take both of them (eldest 7) to Old Warden every year at least once, its quieter and safer (less crowds), but fear not i will wean them on to more powerful machines later. We do go ‘spotting’ at Brize Norton, but they find the Vc10’s a bit noisey at close quarters and are happier watching them from our garden a few miles back(at about 2000ft).

4th birthday? Even more reason to take her out for a birthday treat! 🙂

God help me if I DON’T take Haydn off to see aircraft somewhere on his birthday each year!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-04-02 AT 08:10 AM (GMT)]Steve,
Check his scalp for a tatoo 666! If he also likes to listen to O Fortuna & you christened him Damien- Then you in big Doh Doh!
Only joking
As for myself? I’ll be at a model air show, up near Withernsea, so I hope those of you going to Duxford have a great time.
Talking of Duxford & large scale model aircraft, there’s an LMA airshow there, it’s in either June or July, should be a good week-end. If anyones interested I’ll look up the correct date.

TTFN,
Neilly

To my shame, I’ve still not yet joined up, so will probably do so at the show.

How will people recognise me? I’ll be the bloke whose small son is happily running up and down the flightline and jabbering on about good ones with round things or stars, and naughty ones with crosses. I think I’ve created a monster… 🙂

The one in the FlyPast enclosure with Spitfire earrings and no Duxford T-Shirt will be Mrs Moggy.

Moggy

(When I say “no T-shirt” I do actually mean she’ll be wearing something!)

(I suppose?)
