RE: Friday afternoon watchtower quiz
Well it was a bit tricky.
The first picture is the ‘new’ control tower at Bodney. (Home of the famed P51 Squadron ‘The Blue-Nosed Bastards of Bodney’ This name I believe derives from the colour they painted their aircraft rather than the exposed position of the domestic site – but I could be wrong)
The ‘old’ control tower was demolished when one of the said bastards drove his aircraft into it.
Picture 2 is on the 8th AF field at Deopham Green. The tower is part of a derelict scrapyard and honestly doesn’t look as if it is too much longer for this world.
For anybody who is interested in ‘classic cars’ the entire building is packed with panels and trim from 1950s motors.
Undoubtedly the site is private property. As is Bodney (For which we had permission)

No idea about their locations, but by process of elimination I don’t recognise any of them as being in Cambridgeshire… 🙂

Not a thing, but I’ll put it on the list for my next outing.

Moggy,
No1. Not a clue.
No2. Absolutely no idea!
East Anglia? Do you know anything about the Ludham tower museum in Norfolk which was there in 1996?
