No Sadsack, I´m not sulking ……

…… I´m back today from a week of skiing in Austria, or rather off skiing since the weather sucked.

Well, did You get there (and back) and did You find out anything regarding the Lake Schwerin Dora-9?

Christer 🙂

RE: Sometimes I wonder why I bother?

Point taken Christer…Not sure why a Spitfire in a museum in Chicago is upset, but I can see why ur miffed..:0) Mind you , I felt the same, when after a request to identify bits of aircraft outside DTMB in Berlin was answered, by my phoning me mate, the good Herr Dr Dr, it was met by a total lack of thanks…..Oh well, youth… rush rush rush, it’s the curse of the age you know 🙂 Anyway, got some new tecchie stuff for you to get your teeth into, will be posting it up on our board later

RE: Cambridge Footlights Sketch?

It was actually the late Peter Cook, and Dr. Jonathan Miller……

The scene, a Bomber station in Blighty, Winter 1941….. and a young and eager pilot is approached by the station commander….

Cook We’re two down, and the ball’s in the enemy court. War is a psychological thing, Perkins, rather like a game of football. You know how in a game of football ten men often play better than eleven?

Miller Yes, sir.

Cook Perkins, we are asking you to be that one man. I want you to lay down your life, Perkins. We need a futile gesture at this stage. It will raise the whole tone of the war. Get up in a crate, Perkins, pop over to Bremen, take a shufti, don’t come back, Goodbye, Perkins. God, I wish I was going too.

Miller Goodbye, sir–or is it–au revoir?

Cook No, Perkins.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother?

Well, I don´t know what You did to upset P9306 but, a simple thanks would have avoided upsetting me!

Sadsack, when You get there, ……

…… ask about the situation regarding the Lake Schwerin Dora-9.
Would be nice to hear some good news on that one!

RE: hello from berlin

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-03-02 AT 08:33 PM (GMT)]It´s located in Gatow, a suburb west of Berlin.
You don´t reach the museum from the front entrance.
You have to go around to the back.
There´s a gate in the perimeter fence and you go across the runway to get to the hangers.

I believe there´s a map on www.luftwaffenmuseum.de

Hope this helps,
Christer

Came to think of a good resource:

http://www.shellgeostar.com/share/

Enter Berlin as the starting point and Gatow as the end point.
When prompted choose Gatow with postal code 140.
Click full page map (or whatever it says) and You see that it´s not difficult to find.

You can also get a city map over Gatow and search for Gross Glienicker Weg. It´s a long one and when You consider turning back, don´t, it´s just around the corner when You get to a few summer houses (I guess that´s what it is).
