Vigna Di Valle

It’s not too bad by public transport from Rome.

I went by train from Rome Ostiense to Vigna di Valle then it’s about a 30+ minute walk (or 45 minutes uphill on the way back). The stopping trains are hourly from Rome (5 euros return).

I don’t think I picked quite the best walking route which was back parallel to the railway along the main road towards Rome for about a kilometer then left across a railway crossing and then pretty much straight along the same road – after a while it drops down a hill towards the lake, then there’s a sharply angled junction at which you fork left (signposted to the museum) then it’s a few hundred metres further. I think there’s another road from the station which doesn’t involve walking in amongst the traffic!

I gather the nearest public transport is a bus stop about 1km from the museum – near the military entrance to the base for the bus running between Bracciano and Anguillara which are both on the same railway line from Rome as Vigna di Valle
