Was the unducted fan engine ever conidered the A10?

It would seem that the use of a pair of GE36’s, that were based on the F404, would be an appropriate engine upgrade for the A10. Not only would the performance envelope be improved, it would make the aircraft even uglier. Imagine an A10 with a pair of UDF’s whirling about …horrifying, just horrifying. It would look like some sort of flying Cuisinart coming at you.

Maybe that would have given the unducted fan a foothold…
