NH90 v Blackhawk Down Under

I have not read up on this in detail, but to what extent are the problems with the NH90 part of the battle in Australian procurement between those that want all American and those that favour European equipment?

I mean is it the case that local alterations to the requirement have lead to delays or did the European helicopter come up short on all fronts?
