Lightning vs MiG-23

Saudi Arabia acquired some old English Electric Lightnings for the purpose of stopping intruding Egyptian aircraft.
They operated them until 1986.
Seems like **** didn’t go down between them and the Egyptians..
but what if the intrusions got a bit more hostile..

could the lightning stand up to the Egyptian MiG-23s?
