I’m going to be the winner of the next batch of 60-80 aircraft for Indian Air Force – WHO AM I???
1) Rafale
2) MiG-35
3) Gripen-NG
4) F-16 Blk60
5) F/A-18E/F
6) Typhoon
The 1st half of M-MRCA contest is over with the Dassault Rafale besting the rest to win the contest. The deal is to be signed in the next financial year (probably in the 2nd or 3rd quarter itself) after the specifics are finalized. The French are said to have the bad habit of messing things up at the final stage and this time they have got their English buddies standing by the fence giving them 110% unconditional support to mess things up!!! 😀
I have not included the EF-2000 Typhoon, because it is said (from the press) that the next selection process will be from those not in the final stage of the recently concluded contest. Which means Typhoon is effectively out in this, unless we see some hard high handedness from the English side on MMS Govt to include the best thing that human race came across in recent times. 😉
I have included Rafale in the list because it is the current winner and there is high possibility of Rafale being selected again for having continuity. But that continuity will be broken if the overall budget for MMRCA shoots to the north again.
I’d like to have two set of answers for the question
1) Who you think will win
2) Who you would love to see win
Please post your answers and leave some space and then write your reasoning (if you want), for your pick.
TIA
EDIT: It looks like all the aircraft/contenders which were excluded from the pole position is allowed to submit their bid for the follow-on order of 60-80 aircraft and not just the remaining contenders which did not make it to the final shortlist. Considering this point, Typhoon has been added to the list.
I’ve changed the title on request to make it clear that this is for the follow-on orders for the MMRCA requirement.
