the USAF is cancelling the Global Hawk block 30, in favour of the U-2
– how do the two aircraft compare in terms of cost, performance, sensor suite?
– considering the history of losing U-2’s to air defences, is it viable to risk a human life on such dangerous and vital missions in a time of UAVs?
– can we expect upgrades for the U-2, ranging from new sensors, computers to an unmanned uption? how much would that cost?
– should the ideas for in-air refueling and carrier compatibility be revisited? especially if made unmanned, this would greatly increase the U-2 capabilities
is the U-2 a USAF attempt to hang onto high flying manned experience until the 6th generation space/aircraft arrive?
