Russia's Zhuk-AE radar received full size AESA

Well the RBE2 thread was a great success — can we now repeat with the Zhuk-AE?

The promotional leaflet distributed at Aero India 2011 air show last week says the production radar will have larger, 688 mm diameter, antenna compared to 600 mm at Zhuk-AE prototype tested on the aircraft so far.

As a result the detection range in air-to-air mode against air space has increased from 130 km to 160 km for the targets with 5 sq.m RDS. Approaching aircraft can be detected against the ground at 150 km range. The radar with full size array can select up to six most dangerous threats to attack out of a total of 30 simultaneously tracked targets. It is also able to identify target type as well as a number of aircraft in the group target, describes the leaflet.

The production Zhuk-AE is also able to detect and track both mobile and stationary surface targets. The detection range for a target of destroyer size is 200 km while a group of tanks can be detected at 30 km range.

Anybody feel like counting TR modules ? :diablo:

160 km detection range of a 5 m2 object for a 688 mm AESA does not sound very impressive.
