Britains wasted opportunites

Watching from afar, I see Britains armed forces sliding down a confusing and illogical path. Why is it that all of these capabilities have to be sold down the river, when with a few smart decisions, alot of money could be saved. why upgrade Pumas, but cut chinook buys? why continue with Lynx when for the same amount you could get blackhawks or NH90s. and do i even need to talk about A400M and FSTA?
some ideas-

-sell merlins, pumas and lynxes and replace with NH90s
-cancel FSTA, still acquire the aircraft though
-cancel A400M, more C-17s and C-130J-30
-replace SAR and ASW Sea Kings with NH90s
-purchase another 3 A330 and fit out for Recon and ASTOR
-Scrap Tornado, buy all Typhoons(two seat versions)
-Buy 6 more A330 and sell AWACS E-3D to USAF(maybe joint venture with France for A330 AWACS)

Just a couple of observations, but with these fleet rationalisations, maybe some of the capabilities and numbers wouldn’t be lost
