Compound Merlins

Hello,

some years ago Westland were looking at making a winged merlin for the RN. I seem to recall it was around the time the UK was starting to look at the Osprey tilt rotor for carrier operations.

Given that the procurement policy essentially is to look at British (or italian in this case:)) products first, has this idea got any currency or has yeovil given up on compound helicopter designs?
