There were five Dakota models used, two of which were R/C flyers. From the memory of an article in a model mag at the time, the other three I think were just used for ground shots. There was also a 1/4 scale Auster used in the program. After filming, it was returned to a camo scheme and eventually lost in a mid-air.

A model was used for the crash sequence into the farm house, and also for the scene where the landing gear folded in the snow ( the snow being mountains of salt! ).

Apparently, there was much amusement from the modellers involved at the time, by people claiming to be able to spot the models in a shot, often getting it wrong!
