Saab 2000 vs EMB 145

So, now that Saab has come out with its Saab 2000 MPA and AIRTRACER (formerly SIGSTAR) models to complement the Saab 2000 AEW&C, it looks like they’ve set themselves up to compete directly with Embraer’s EMB 145 AEW&C (R-99A), Multi Intel (R-99B), and MP (P-99) models.

Since the two are so closely matched (the AEW&C models even use the same Erieye radar), how do they compare?

The Embraer offerings look like more mature products since all have at least been ordered in one form or another up to this point. On the other hand, I believe that Greece had a good deal of trouble with its EMB 145 AEW&C aircraft at first.

On the surface, this is what I can see, but it may not be correct:

EMB 145 vs Saab 2000

New build vs slightly used
Higher speed vs longer endurance
Higher ceiling vs better low altitude performance

What other differences are there? I’d imagine the turboprops to be less susceptible to FOD, but I can’t think of many other differences. Are they likely to be almost identically priced?

Thanks,

Logan
