F-84F Question

Okay, so I was looking for new photos of the F-84 series, and I came across this one. Anyone notice what is on the outboard rocket pylons?

Rocket pods?!

I wasn’t aware the Thunderstreak could carry anything other than HVAR’s or Tiny Tims as far as rockets are concerned. Now, this photo seems to be of a New Jersey Air Guard bird, and I realize the Guard had F-84F’s well into the 60’s so rocket pods were certainly around, but this leads me to wonder what other “newer” weapons they may have carried (i.e. Mk-80 series dumb bombs perhaps?).

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

(Looking at a good piece of reference material I have on the F-84, it seems the NJ Air Guard operated F-84F’s from 1958 to 1962.)

Note: I’m aware this isn’t really modern aviation, but I’ve been on the Key forums long enough to know this will be ignored moreso on the historical forum than it will on this one. If the mods want to move it, that’s their prerogative, but I felt I’d have more success here. Thanks
