BELGRADE — According to unofficial reports, a military jet crashed near Batajnica airport at about 09:15 CET.
B92’s sources claim that the pilot ejected in time and is currently being treated at the Military Medical Academy.
A statement is expected soon on the condition of the pilot.
According to unofficial information, the aircraft involved was a MiG 29 jet.
The jet was previously part of the Yugoslav People’s Army, the Yugoslav Army, the Serbia-Montenegro Army, and is now part of the Serbian Air Force.
The Yugoslav air force bought 14 of these MiG-29s and two MIG-29UB jets from the Soviet Union in 1987.
Latest reports suggest that the pilot and a soldier on the ground were also killed.
