Skewed thinking or no thinking at Eurocopter?

Sorry that it has taken me so long to raise what has been my pet gripe for about 10 years or however long it is since I heard Eurocopter’s thinking on this. Is it just me who thinks that Eurocopter’s claim that the Tigre’s agility renders a cannon unnecessary is missing the point? The whole idea of a cannnon on an attack helicopter is to provide another weapon option to hit the bad guys with. Ask the Army Air Corps pilots and they’ll tell you that in Afghanistan the Apache’s weapon of choice is their cannon. It is so versatile. An attack helicopter should not be relying on its agility for anything other than NOE flying.Their task takes them in harm’s way so make them capable of surviving on the battlefield as they have with the Apache. The only sensible thing they did was make the cannon an optional extra and the only takers of the cannon equipped variant was Germany to my knowledge. To my thinking that proves that Germany has actually given some thought to what an attakck helicopter should be.
