Just some questions I had regarding the Foxhound. The recent thread got me wondering…although I have stopped reading the other thread as it turned into a rather stupid series of arguments….nothing new on this forum I guess.
Anyways, here’s what I think I’m clear on regarding the MiG-31B Foxhound-A. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
This is all in relation to weapons and stores.
Gun – GSh-6-23 with 260 rounds (23-mm six-barreled weapon)
External Fuel Tanks – Two 660-gallon (U.S.-gallon that is) tanks which are carried on each of the two OUTBOARD underwing pylons.
Missiles – Up to four R-60 (mounted on INBOARD pylons in pairs); Up to four R-33/R-33S mount under the fuselage (Can a fifth and sixth example be carried under the INBOARD wing pylons as well in place of R-60’s or R-40’s?); Up to two R-40TD mounted on the INBOARD underwing pylons in place of the twin R-60 launchers
I have questions regarding the possible upcoming BM variant, but I’ll wait on those until I get my information straight on the baseline B variant.
Thanks for the help!
