MiG-29/35.. light? medium?

people seem to classify the Fulcrum as a light or medium fighter, the low end of the Fulcrum-Flanker duo.
but the thing is nearly as big and heavy as an F-15 and F-18. wouldn’t it be more of a heavy fighter? (but lacking the range of one? just like the F-18E) 🙂
