I wonder if the 0 loss count on Fencers during the conflict was due to them being used less, or simply in a different role.

I recall a news feed once showing a Fencer doing a fast and very low fly-by while dispensing flares . . . was quite interesting, but couldn’t quite tell why it was dropping the flares (probably precaution).
