after reading a news article that the RAF’s Nimrod MRA.4 program is a bit in the same position as the aew.3, i was thinking.
most NATO and worldwide Navy’s operate older EU or american patrol aircraft (Fokker 50/60, Nimrod MR.2, P-3C, S-2T, Atlantic/atlantique,…) wont those aircraft need to be replaced in due time?
the Orion witch is used by most countries is a great patrol aircraft, but dispite the great performance and upgrades, they cant last forever
the only next-gen american patrol aircraft so far is the Boeing P-8, but this aircraft is very expensive for most budget-tight countries. so what future patrol aircraft are available next to the poseidon?
the P-8 Poseidon, ATR-72 Maretime, CN-235 (Ireland/USCG), AirBus A-319MPA and the Atlantique III (if it still is offered) are the only next generation patrol aircraft i know
are there any other new patrol aircraft currently being developed or offered to replace the old ones
