Confirmation to the purchase of 100 F-35

The National assembly foreign affairs committee, with the partnership of nine countries, has confirmed the production contract for F-35 planes and which can not be detected by radar. Within the scope of the $10.7 billion project, Turkey will purchase 100 F-35 planes. The foreign affairs committee approved the proposal yesterday, allowing for Turkey’s participation in the production, assistant and constant improvement stage of war planes. The minister of defense, Vecdi Gönül, stated that the project is worth $250 billion and added: “some of the F-4 and F-16 planes comprising the main hitting team of the Air Force Command will expire in the year 2010. The activities to choose new generation war planes for the air forces began in the 90s.”
