I have been trying to get information, specifications, drawing/pictures of the Rolls Royce ‘Avon’-powered variant of the Dassault ‘Mirage IIIO’ that was tailored to the Royal Australian Air Forces needs. Which unfortunately the RAAF backed away from, in place of the ‘Atar’-powered design.
So I thought I would have a crack at trying Dassault directly, in an attempt and chance that they may access their archives for this info.
Unfortunately I know only but one language – ‘English’
So when I look at the Dassault web site http://www.dassault-aviation.com/
of cause (and naturally) it was all in French!!
I am enquiring into the possibility of someone who has the command of the French language, to put in a request at Dassault into information (and specifications, drawing/pictures if possible)
Thanks to TMor, he was able to give me this sniped of information
A French Mirage IIIA, known as ‘City of Hobart’, was fitted with an RB146 Avon 67 turbojet and flew on 13 February 1961. This was known as a Mirage IIIO, but did not receive a RAAF serial number as, although this modification delivered superior performance, its cost was prohibitive and this project was discontinued.
With thanks in advance
