Ice and modern strike aircraft

So, I am currently living in an area that gets its fair share of snow and is in a deep valley surrounded by mountains and other deep valleys. During a massive storm the other day (almost a meter of snow) I got to thinking about the all weather capability of aircraft in these conditions.

How badly does icing affect moderns warplanes that are fly nap-of-the-earth? Do blinding snow/sleet storms still make a difference when terrain masking? Obviously one way to counter this could be to fly above the weather, but what if the threat environment required low level flying? How survivable is this type of weather?

On a side note, did hear lots of bombing last night… but not the kind your thinking about:cool: The kind I REALLY REALLY like.
