This have been my best try at the Su-30MKM’s antenna configuration:
SAAV AVITRONICS EMITTER LOCATION SYSTEM SYSTEM
SYSTEMS DESCRIPTION
Accurate direction-finding is important to ESM systems for the geo-location of emitters and for directing jammers and weapons. Integrated with the MSWS multisensor warning system, the ELS provides the high accuracy DF required for these tasks.
The ELS consists of an integrated receiver and controller and a number of antenna arrays, dependant on the system requirements. The main features of the system are: low mass and volume by using a single channel switched receiver; intra-pulse channel switching for a single pulse DF capability; high DF accuracy using a combination of phase and amplitude comparison technique; pulse Doppler handling capacity; high sensitivity.
The ELS is designed as an integral part of MSWS to enhance the DF capability of the radar warning function. All display and control is via the host system. The ELS functions are: accurate bearings for emitters designated from the host system; frequency measurement for designated emitters; detection of low probability of intercept emitters in an autonomous mode; gathering of emitter data for ESM/ELINT analysis.Specifications
