I was reading about exports of the f-4e phantom when i came across this snippit of info from wiki
Talks are underway to replace them with Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft (as reported in the Financial Times in March 2007), since the sale of American F-22 Raptor is currently blocked by US export restrictions
Okayyyyy so is this geniune?. If so then then Japan will have something that can not only replace the F-4EJKAIS but also have the potential to supplant and finally replace F-2 . A Typhoon would logically have better anti-ship capability than the F-2 and still retain 4 Amraams and 2 sidewinders for self escort cpabilities . Unless Japan decides to do some “creative modifications” such as giving it the F-2’s radar.
At this rate, Japan should eat humble pie and just Upgrades their existing F-2s into super kais
