I seem to have heard or read somewhere that there are a few fighters capable of going supersonic in vertical flight, i.e. straight up. Is that really so ? What aircraft(s) ?
And what about the speed record at very low, horisontal flight ? IIRC I saw a footage of a F100 once going about 1,600 km/h. I guess thrust had to be increased tremendously to go much faster than that, right ?
