Hi all,
at first I want to note that I have some serious questions for which I want to find answers. These questions have nothing to do with the Eurofighter Typhoon so please keep on topic about the Rafale! I don’t want the thread becoming another Typhoon vs Rafale flame war!!!
My questions are:
1.) AFAIK in 1979 it was decided to fuse the requirements of the AdAs ACT and Aeronavales ACM to develope a common type for both services. My question is, was that already the ACX programme or is the ACX the demonstration/developement programme which eventually led to the Rafale A prototype?
2.) Some years ago I read that the first Rafale M delivered in 2000/2001 were built to the LF1 configuration without gun and MICA EM launch certification as well as no IFF on board. The aircraft were brought to full F1 standard from ~mid 2001 and 3 examples were wired to carry buddy-buddy pods in 2002.
My question is was the LF1 designation officially used? And were there additional differences between LF1 and F1?
3.) Most sources say that the 120 aircraft on order split up into 82 (44 C & 38 B) for the AdA and 38 for the Aeronavale.
However my data say 83/37.
According to my information the 3 batches are splitted up as follow:
Batch 1: 2xB, 1xC and 10xM
Batch 2: 21xB, 12xC and 15xM
Batch 3: 11xB, 36xC and 12xM
Makes 34xB, 48xC and 37xM
Looks like something has changed! Can someone post the split up for Batch 2 and 3?
thx in advance
