What is the underlying reason(s) why the US does not employ canards in its fighter designs while the rest of the world has apparently fallen in love with the things? I’ve read that the canard is an aerodynamic band-aid and a properly designed fighter doesn’t need one. Do we see either side changing directions in the future?
