If they had gone to war in the late 80s assuming 1988
how would have the airforces compare on each side, only as far as air2aircombat is concerned
soviets have a couple of thousand floggers, ~ 500 Mig-29/su-27
600 Mig-25/31
NATO has F-4/14/15/18 , and F-16s but no AIM-120
which side is better able to sustain a long convential war
NATO planes must carry out strike as well as CAP missions to support their outnumbered groundforces while Soviets have more specialized strike planes freeing the fulcrums/floggers for air combat only
Will NATO airfields survive the onslaught by soviet SSMs and aircrafts,
