No really into classics but really curious

I’m not really good on the modern classics thing, but I would like to know a little more about this little lady, the Avro Shackleton. It’s just to satisfy my own curiousity really:
1) when was it built?
2) it looks like it is based on an airliner…that right?
3) how many operators did it have in total?
4) was it well loved by it’s crews?
5) what roles did it fill (I know the E-3 took over from AEW in the RAF, but wasn’t it a Navy plane?)
6) was it a capable AWAC system?
7) when was it retired and who was it’s last operator?

honestly, add anything else you may know and would like to add ‘cos as I said before I’m not into the oldies but this thing has always caught my eye when flicking through books and such…I know I could Google all this but what would be the fun in that??? :rolleyes:
