Looking east to buy?

If after extensive research and investigation it was found that the Russian fighters (Mikoyan Project 1.44 or Sukhoi S-37 Berkut) were found to be the best option to replace the current RAF Tornado F3s would the Government buy them?

In recent years we have only ever heard of the Eurofighter Typhoon being chosen as the F3 replacement with very little mention of anything else being in the running. The only place I have seen comparisons between other aircraft (JSF and Gripen/P106 mainly) is here on The Aviation Forum.

Would the Government seriously have considered buying Russian designed aircraft, obviously with western avionics, along with the more usual western designs?

If not why not? Surely Vladimir Putin wouldn’t have tried to block trade as I’m sure the Russian economy needs all the cash it can find.
