“The series-built helicopter will join with the two Mi-28N experimental aircraft being tested by the defense ministry, and it is supposed to confirm its flight performance and undergo tests of the avionics complex, including the weapons system, the agency source said.
The Mi-28N successfully passed both a series of flights and a work-out of the cannon armament at the enterprise and it demonstrated full compliance to the assigned tactical and technical requirements, they added at the press service.
In March of this year, the state commission under the chairmanship of Russia’s air force commander-in-chief, General of the Army Vladimir Mikhaylov, issued a preliminary decision about he possibility of the production of a pre-production batch of helicopters, they recalled at the press service.
Moreover, Mikhaylov announced the defense ministry’s intention to purchase 50 Mi-28N helicopters before 2010.
High flight speed and a wide range of defense systems distinguishes the “Night Hunter.” The Mi-28N is almost not perceptible for ground weapons and has an armored crew cockpit. A complex of combat armament has been installed on the helicopter which provides the ability for use of the whole range of aviation weaponry in any weather conditions.
